TEENAGERS AND SAFE CARS
If your teenager has just gotten a driver's license, it may be hard to imagine handing over the keys to your brand new car, but that may be the smartest vehicle to choose. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) say there is something worried parents can do to protect their teens—choose a safe vehicle.

New laws for 2009
The law now prohibits the use of text-messaging devices including cell phones, Blackberry’s and laptop computers while driving. In addition the vehicle does not have to be moving to get a ticket. Also new this year is a requirement that homeowners clear 100 feet of brush to protect homes from wildfire as well as zero tolerance for those on probation for DUI.
